Sheffield Sharks captain thanks all fans for sticking with them this season and through this difficult time and reminds all fans to stay safe, stay at home and keep washing their hands due to the coronavirus outbreak and the latest information given by the UK government.
Earlier this month, along with many other major sporting events and organisations the British Basketball League announced that the remainder of the 2019/20 season was postponed until further notice due to the uncertain and strange times ahead.
This meant that clubs had to fly overseas players back home to their respected countries so they could be safe with their families.
“This virus has had a huge effect on the BBL by obviously shutting it down mid season, there was still a lot of basketball to play so it’s extremely frustrating and disappointing to all the clubs and player.
“The impact of all the import players going home is obviously huge as a good portion of our team are not local/British. We would not be able to function at 100% without them.”
“I think at this point the league will most likely not start back up, with the extended lock down announced in multiple countries and travel bans looming, this looks like it will go on much longer than expected, I believe that this season is a wash and the league will look forward to next season said Tuck.”
Being on lockdown and staying indoors can be tough but Tuck insists that the mood in the camp remains high despite them not seeing each other.
“The mood within the club is still positive but obviously we are all frustrated, we all wanted to finish what we started and make that final push towards the playoffs but some things are bigger than basketball, at this point we are just happy that everyone is safe and with their families
I am still training but am obviously limited, i’ve been going out for runs, and doing some circuit and stationary training in the house to keep fit.
“I want to thank all the fans and players for a great season and hope that everyone is having a safe and healthy few weeks at home and see you all soon.”
