This is how COVID 19 is affecting British Basketball

The BBL have announced that they have postponed the remainder of he 2019/20 season until further notice due to the uncertain times ahead with the coronavirus.

A few clubs from the BBL including the Worcester Wolves, Cheshire Phoenix and the Sheffield Sharks have let all overseas players return home to their respective countries to see their families.

In their statement the league have said: “The BBL is wholly owned by its member clubs who as a collective determine any decisions and they have agreed that it is in the best interests of the sport to see out the season and that this postponement offers the best chance to do so.”

The WBBL have also announced that they have cancelled the rest of the 2019/20 season due to the outbreak of COVID 19.

In their statement the league have said: “The WBBL is wholly owned by its member clubs who as a collective determine any decisions and they have agreed that in light of the on-going uncertainty surrounding the impact of Covid-19, cancellation was in the best interests of the League, we are finalising the details as to what cancellation means in terms of results based on the current standings and will update in due course.”

The BBL will closely be monitoring the situation and will work closely with all clubs to try and get the league back as soon as possible.
