With the UK still in lockdown due to the coronvirus pandemic Sheffield Sharks head coach Atiba Lyons has taken the time to share some basketball skills and drills that you can learn at home to keep yourself occupied.
Following a statement on the British Basketball League’s website on the 17th March 2020 saying that the remainder of the 2019/20 season has been postponed clubs made the decision to fly overseas players back home to their families and friends.
The UK has been on lockdown since Monday 23rd March 2020 and this meant that the BBL season is very unlikely to return until September as it would be too expensive to fly players back to continue the season.
Lyons has coached the Sharks since 2008 and has won four major honours with the club, during his playing career he also had experience from playing in America, Finland and Israel.
To keep spirits high Lyons created some basketball skills videos that all ages can try to help them improve their own game and maybe one day see them come through the ranks of the junior Sharks.
This video shows a family fun skill of dribbling to a crossover that everyone can get involved with therefore creating more fun, encouragement and a little bit of competition.
